HURRICANE SEASON

Am I ready?  No way. Yes, we have enough batteries, lanterns, water bottles, and paper plates.  But psychologically, I cringe at the thought of a giant orange swirl rotating in the Caribbean on the evening news. Do we have wipes and hand sanitizer in case the water gets contaminated?  Check.  Peanut butter for emergency rations?  Check.  Battery-run fan?  Check.  Weather alert radio?  Check.  We go through this every year and it doesn’t get easier. You could go nuts and order survival kits with MREs and such. How much preparation is enough? As soon as we get a hurricane watch, you can bet the stores will be filled with panic buyers, myself included. No one can avoid the incessant hype from newscasters that beats away at your resolve to remain calm like raindrops before a deluge. Good luck to all of us living in the storm zone this summer!

For those cooks among you, I’ve added some recipes to my website page, so please drop in for a look and scroll down to click on Recipes.
