Last week, I was finally able to hunker down and write the first chapter of my new W.I.P. (i.e.,Work in Progress). It’s pure crap, but at least I wrote something. The story is dwelling in my head now, ready to unravel. I don’t have a synopsis yet, and I’m still not sure where it’s going, but the characters are carrying on conversations in my mind despite numerous outside distractions. You’re right; we writers are nuts. We hear imaginary voices.
Meanwhile, I have a full week ahead, with little time for writing, then we’re going to Orlando again. My thoughts are increasingly turning to our upcoming trip to England and all that we’ll have to do to prepare. Plus we need to buy a computer desk for the condo. You’ve never seen two people trying to decide on one piece of furniture like me and my husband. We’ve been to various furniture stores, plus the office stores, searched online, and have narrowed the choices. This is like a major decision for us. The pullout keyboard drawer has to be wide enough for a keyboard and mouse. If it’s a one-sided desk in terms of where the drawers are located, I must have them on the right side because of the room layout. I need space on the desk top for a printer, so the hutch can’t come too low. And so on. Make the decision already and move on!
Last week was busy too, with more legal stuff (still settling my aunt’s estate), aggravation with stores over refunds, etc. Oh, and next week, we’re getting in new front windows. That means we have to move everything mobile out of those three rooms and cover the furniture in plastic. With so much on my mind, it’s hard to write, especially when this story is a “from the heart” book that I just want to tell. It’s a fun project, although the world building takes a lot of thought. I hope one day I’ll be able to share it with you, but that won’t happen unless one of you gives me a kick in the pants to get my butt in the chair and my hands on the keyboard.
