RETAIL THERAPY

Today I felt like clothes shopping. I haven’t shopped for myself in a while, being too focused on household repairs and supplies. But I could use more shorts, and it would serve as a reward for the yard work I accomplished earlier. So I drove to the Dress Barn, which my cousin introduced me to during a trip to New Hampshire. I’d never shopped there before that time, but once inside, I became a fan. So it’s all my cousin’s fault!

Their stuff fits me fine and doesn’t break my wallet. I didn’t find any shorts, but I tried on a pair of drawstring pants and liked them so much that I bought three in khaki, black, and navy. Also got a top, 3/4 sleeve dark tangerine. But no shorts. Oh well.  I’ll have to try Bass Pro Shops.  My friend the bird watcher who goes on jungle expeditions shops there and I like her outfits.

A call from my husband put an end to the shopping spree. The plumber arrived, and my dear spouse needed me at home for consultation.  How come I  handled these things on my own when he went to work, and yet he calls me whenever a repairman shows up?

I love looking at Dress Barn stuff but it does NOT fit me. I need long inseams and sleeves, and they don't carry them. Waah.

There must be something in the air. I hadn't been clothes shopping in months, but the other day I became disgusted with my wardrobe and got rid of a bunch of stuff. It was like metaphorically molting. Then I splurged on shorts and capris at Ann Taylor Loft because, poor short me, I have to buy petite sizes.

Nancy,

Hopefully you did enough for the both of us. I hate shopping and limit the dreaded task to about 2 times a year. ;) Carol

Lisa, the Dress Barn has petite sizes also.
Now I'd like some new shoes. I need another pair of white dressy sandals and fit well into Clarks or Easy Spirit. Will have to visit the outlets on our next trip to Orlando. I tried Sawgrass Mills and they didn't have anything suitable.

I've been in retail therapy mode for a couple of days now. I can't get clothes that I like anywhere in the Keys, so I shop online a lot. Over Memorial Day weekend, while up in the Northeast, I hit one of my favorite clothing stores and loaded up on new sporty tops, some longer "dress" shorts, etc. Yesterday I went a little wild stocking up on items from my favorite line of cosmetics. Must. Stop. Spending. (but it's been fun!)
