We saw Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix yesterday. I enjoyed it, as I do all the films in the collection. This story is darker than previous installments but so is the book. The only thing I'd have liked to see would be more scenic panorama shots. There were only a couple of landscapes that I recall in the entire film. One of the earlier movies had sweeping vistas that gave the viewer a broader feel for Harry's world. It might have been number three, when the director changed. What I like best is seeing the kids grow up and having all the same characters pop up in each film, like old friends coming to visit. And despite what some critics say, I also like J.K. Rowling’s winning formula, wherein we start out at the Dursleys during Harry’s summer vacation, then move on to Hogwarts via the express train. It’s all great fun, and I can’t wait for the last two films. I ordered Book 7 (referred to last night in the latest Doctor Who episode!). Like Stephen King said in Entertainment Weekly, I’ll be sad when the saga comes to an end. But as an author, I can relate to Rowling wanting to take a break. She deserves it, even though we readers would rather she keep writing her magical tales forever.
