PROGRESS REPORT

I have written the first 22 pages of my WIP plus the first 5 synopsis pages. Yippee. But that’s it for a while, so I may have to revise my goals below. Tomorrow we’re getting new front windows installed in our house and that has necessitated covering all the furniture in those rooms and stashing all my papers, knick knacks, etc., so our place is total chaos. The last thing I’ll cover with plastic sheeting will be this computer.  My regular desk is already under plastic and who knows where all my papers are that I stuffed into drawers? The next day, we have the drapery cleaners returning the living room drapes, and the alarm guy is coming to wire the new windows. Then we leave for Orlando to shop for certain items up there, visit our kids, and get our drapes delivered in the condo. Whew! When we return, we’ll begin the countdown for our trip to London in September. October is a 5-day cruise on the Norwegian Pearl and November is Thanksgiving. Is it any wonder I’m having trouble concentrating? How can I plot a new story when I’d rather read about what’s new at Disney World or where we should eat in London? Since my kids are going overseas with us, I am constantly sending them emails: You’ll want to pack slacks other than jeans since people dress more formally in England. Should we get show tickets ahead of time? Do we need electric plug converters? How will we exchange our money into pounds? It’s going to be colder there so bring sweaters. And so on. My head is in sync with our house; they’re both a whirlwind, our normal routine shredded. Oh, and did I mention the EPCOT Food & Wine Festival Sept. 28-Nov. 11?  We just HAVE to go to that event!  What is that you’re saying?  You want me to sit at the computer and write?  Surely you jest. Who has time?
