A new problem has entered the horizon, like I need another source of aggravation. Our new pest control company rep looked in the attic, about to bomb it for white-footed and carpenter ants, and said, “Uh oh, these look like drywood termite droppings." The next day, he sends over another guy from his firm who specializes in termite inspections. Yup, the man said, you’ve got ‘em. So I went on the Internet and signed up for two more free evaluations. Heard from one of them already. Yes, you’re infected, and it’ll cost you.... We’re waiting on Terminix tomorrow. They all give the same treatment: a chemical that’s blown into our attic for at least $1100 and up. Then they offer a yearly contract for about $150 to inspect and retreat as necessary. There’s always something! The good news is, the termites haven’t swarmed yet. Ugly thought.
